Can you guess? Think about the perfect straight lines in the grass on a sports field, the swerving lines around curving garden edges, the mad lines of a child not completely in control of the mower and the robotic pathways of the most modern mowers guiding by gps. Sound familiar?
Some quilters demand perfection of themselves with every curve perfectly matching the sewn shape beside it, others hand their finished piercing (sewing) over to a long armed specialist machine and operator, and then there is me, Tricia Legg… that indulgent, slightly incontrollable woman/child who quilts with gay abandon, following a pathway that just feels right and often can be a wee bit crooked!
I think the difference tells a tale of who you are as a person and how you find pleasure in your craft. A perfect quilt is technical genius, demonstrated by the chosen few who win the top prizes at shows worldwide. These elite master craftspeople are to be admired and applauded but what if you are not one of them?
