I am planning an online 6 lesson workshop on how to make it starting on the 7th November, 2026 and so you can make one too.
The run up to the workshop will have you searching around into all yours, your friends and your family’s winter wardrobes or charity shops if they see you coming with that look in your eye!! You will be looking for woollen jerseys that have moth holes in them, colourful woollen socks , scraps of lace, odd bits of woollen yarn and any other interesting things made of wool that you are willing to cut up! Because this workshop is all about repurpose, reuse and being warm as toast in the process! Oh and minimal cost. Sound like you?
When I went searching I had a colour scheme in mind, blue, and so I may have tried to convince my husband that his current blue winter jersey needed replacing. I didn’t win that one! But I did find what I needed in an old hand knitted cardigan of my late Mum’s, my son’s hoodie, and a dark blue jersey of my husband’s that genuinely had moth holes in it!
I appliquéd, slow stitched, machine embroidered, and played, making the embellishments as I went along because it was fun.

So that’s why I’m here. To help you cut up and reassemble your old jerseys that have no purpose as they are, remake them with a pattern, sew away and then embellish, to create something absolutely amazing, which of course is your unique design or showcasing your art. Reuse jerseys is all about you and your tutor Tricia Legg. This is an interactive, course with six LIVE sessions using zoom over 6 weeks so you have plenty of time to work through each stage. They are recorded so you are able to review the lessons and look at them over and over. You will receive one-on-one evaluation during each step and your question will be answered. If you can not keep up the pace, each lesson will be recorded so you can work around your other commitments.
We work in New Zealand dollars. The price for the workshop is $NZ129 (approximately $US76, €66, £57) . Participant numbers are strictly limited.
You will need 4-5 old jerseys, normal craft accessories such as needles, scissors, thread etc, access to applique paper, old socks!!, sewing machine, embroidery thread, random scraps of wool, 5 very small rings, 5 domes, enough fabric to make a lining, and a passion for trying a new and exciting winter jacket that will become your unique original.
