Stitch Study No. 1 is a step-by-step embroidery project designed to introduce you to a range of techniques using fabric, thread, hand stitching and free-motion machine embroidery.
This isn’t a project where you simply follow a pattern and end up with something that looks exactly like everyone else’s. Instead, you’ll learn how to build the butterfly yourself, experimenting with colour, texture, stitch and fabric to create a piece that is very much your own. Clear photographs accompany each stage so you can see what you are doing as you work through the project.
And there is a little extra included. Alongside the butterfly, you’ll find a bumblebee project, designed as a smaller and simpler introduction to free-motion machining. It gives you the opportunity to practise the technique, while creating another little piece of textile art along the way.
